Technical point - both his middle and index fingers and the flesh between them would be sliced open by the fletching in the position you have them in and interfere drastically with the flight of the arrow. The index finger should be below the shaft, supporting it (tho the bow should be part of the support via slanting so the finger won't be cut by the fletching), and the arrow should be on the opposite side from the shooter's palm.

He looks sad and reflective, like he's preparing to do a deadly job he doesn't want to do, but is necessary.
